If you could choose a hero or leader from among a deck of cards, who would it be?

No one knows for sure whom the four kings represent. Some legends say the king of spades is David, the king of diamonds is Caesar, the king of Hearts is Charlemagne, and the king of clubs is Alexander the Great.

And yet, you choose your idol and role model by the choices you make.

Are beer, alcohol, drugs, and sex major players in your lifestyle? Alexander the Great died at the age of 32 from the effects of intemperance!

Are lies, power, manipulation, and greed part of your action plan? Any one of these has brought down kingdoms and empires throughout history.

There’s another set of cards that very few people still use today. These are called “holy cards” because they picture angels, saints, the Blessed Virgin, Jesus, and the Holy Trinity.

On the back of each card is a short description of the event or person pictured on the front. Imagine spreading out a handful of these holy cards on the table. Quietly hold the intention that you are looking for wisdom to guide the way you take care of your body, mind, and spirit.

Then pull out any three cards, knowing that whomever they represent and whatever message they tell, here is something to consider. Spend a few minutes reflecting on these cards and what they might be offering you.

It’s not about trying to recreate the lives of the saints, as some of that information is legend also. It’s about finding a better role model and spiritual teacher. The power source you align with is the power you allow into your body, mind, and spirit. Choose wisely. Choose Light and Love.

Drop us a line and share your thoughts about whom you choose for your role models. How do you align yourself with their energy? What keepsakes or mementos do you have around to remind you of them?
