I didn’t see it coming. The temperature gauge was way beyond the red zone before I realized something was wrong. By then, the damage was done – big time!
It was hard to leave it standing on the shoulder of the highway. I thought my trusty steed of six years deserved something better than that. Back home, I’d open the door to my garage and stare at the empty space.
It wasn’t any easier to retrieve my belongings at the garage where my car was towed. On the outside it looked so strong and capable.
My ego could have run with this information for weeks. Fueled with emotion, I could have created a victim story to top anything going on anywhere else in the world.
Defeat or transition? That is the question that changed everything. Failure or upgrade? That is the challenge that shifted me out of ego and into awareness. It’s all about perspective and perception.
I hope someone will do a nice rehab on my car someday. So my car will get an upgrade too. I’m out looking for another 4-wheeled friend to transition with me into a whole new phase of my life. I just don’t know what that car is going to look like yet. And I don’t know where my life is going to be taking us. But I do know this — the car and my life will be an upgrade.
