ch-04-istock_000001939253a.jpg“Not all sicknesses and injuries were obvious to the people in the town. There were times when they didn’t know what was happening to them — only that something seemed strangely different. That’s the way it was the year when the great sadness came into the land.”

This story unfolds in the spiritual allegory, “The Light Within: the path of connecting to source.” (Pathways: Tales for the Spiritual Seeker)

At some time or another, many of us have felt a sadness creep into our lives. A lingering illness, a traumatic experience, grief over losing someone we deeply loved.

As in the story, so too in our lives there are Healers who bring hope. We may not have named them that! But a phone call, a meal shared together, some unexpected cash slipped into our hands were a bit of encouragement and hope when we needed it the most.

In the day-to-day ups and downs of life, the most consistent hope and healing is already with us. In the story the Healer said to the people, “With every breath you take, say to yourself, ‘The light is always with me.’”

Remember your Source. Renew your connection to All-That-Is. Refresh your relationship with the Divine. Then all is well all the time. The Light is always with you.

Hi Jan,

I love your blog. I found it when I googled the name “everyday mystic” because I wanted to call a future blog by the same name. Oh well, there is an infinite supply of good names out there!

Now, about that great sadness. One day at a very low point in my life in my early 20’s, when I was overcome with my own black moods, I heard a powerful inner voice say to me three times, “I am the light.”

I was staying with a friend at the time and I was alone in her living room. As I heard the words, “I am the light,” I was prompted to get up from the sofa and go to her bookshelf and open a book I had never seen before. The page I opened to it at that very moment held a quote from the bible. It said, “I am the light. So we all are, the evershining.”

The synchonicity was so powerful I just about fell over. It was then just the beginning of many mystical experiences in my life. Unfortunately, the darkness would descend on my life many other times but in each instance the light would appear to nourish me and light my path once again.

As I have gotten older I have learned to trust that in any dark time, it is only a matter of time before the light will burst through and all will be well.

Namaste,

Catherine L. Taylor

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your moment of “light” with us. That’s an awesome story.

I love the way the Source was there for you when you needed It the most. It’s so encouraging for our readers to know that they too can call on the “light” and It will be there for them when they need It.

Thanks again for sharing with us.
Janice

Jan, I so appreciate your post – it was exactly what I needed to learn… again. And because your post prompted another of your readers to comment, I got the message twice… lovely to remember.

Thank you.

Ann

Hi Ann,
Remembering we are in the Light and of the Light is one of the most powerful affirmations we can use to lift our spirits and keep us going! So glad you found hope in today’s message.

Blessings on your healing journey,
Jan
