957827297_e9a7c08e7c_m.jpg“Of course,” you say, “Who wouldn’t be?” So what is the reality showing up in your life? Are your health, career and relationships all looking like a state of being that anyone would love to enjoy? If that reality is not here for you yet, you are not alone.

Your conscious mind can say “yes” to this question. But if your ego and subconscious mind aren’t behind the wheel with you on this desire, you’re not going anywhere.

324303094_a06d411bdc_m.jpgI showed up for an appointment just as the manager was finishing a conversation with a young woman. She sat slouched down in the chair with her arms crossed on her chest. Her head was down. I didn’t have to look twice to be aware of the mood she was in.

He reached over to shake my hand and I introduced myself. As I got ready to sit down, I tried not to stare at the two of them. He said something quietly to her, then leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. She got up to leave with the same sullen expression and sad demeanor.

I don’t know her story – but it’s her story that’s hurting her.

ch-03-istock-000004395601_thumbnail.jpg“It’s a long journey into my heart to find a new heart for you. Do you want to come with me?” This is the turning point in the spiritual allegory, “A New Heart for the Willow: The path of trust and surrender.”

It doesn’t matter who or what the willow tree symbolizes. We can relate to its anguish and emptiness when it says, “Inside of me it’s very dry. I have no more tears; I have no more laughter. I have no more dreams; I have no more heart.”

The most telling part of the Willow’s story is when it says, “I have never left the land. I don’t know how to let go of it.”

Presented by a friend and colleague of mine, Anna Maria Casper. Anna is attuned and certified as a Reiki Master/Teacher in the Usui Reiki tradition.

She explains Reiki as “an ancient, natural laying on of hands healing technique that was rediscovered through the ancient sacred texts by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1800’s. Reiki is both powerful and gentle. Its long history of use has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury. All one needs to become a Reiki channel is the desire to learn and the commitment to use Reiki on oneself. The channeling of such a loving, calm energy is a truly uplifting and empowering experience.”

ch-02-istock_000002847535.jpgImagine a person you could go to see and get everything you needed. Notice I said “needed” and not “wanted.” That was the experience of people in the spiritual allegory, “The Peace-of-the-People: The path of unconditional love.

Oh yes, many people arrived at the meeting place with a list of what they thought they needed to be happy. There were lots of questions and rambling on at each gathering with the Wise and Wonderful Person known among them as the Peace-of-the-People. But what they left with was not more things! What each person received was what each one longed for and didn’t know how to get – inner peace.

ch_01-4074816_thumbnail.jpgHow do you get there – to the source of All-That-Is?

“Search for the stillness in your heart.” The sacred teacher, Wind Walker, shares this wisdom in the book of spiritual allegories, Pathways: Tales for the Spiritual Seeker.

Sometimes it’s a long journey into that stillness. Many of us fly out of bed and hit the shower running in a day that is crammed full of responsibilities and expectations. Some of us may take time to eat healthy. A few make time to exercise.

619165212_03eb12d7ae_m.jpgThese six quick reminders will boost your love life and career. Use them to mend relationships. Wipe out stress and anxiety with these easy steps.

S: Keep it sweet and simple. Your questions and your answers. Your give and your take. It’s simple when you know what you want. You are clear about what you need. It’s sweet when you know how to do it with kindness and compassion. You are always tuned in to what is the most benevolent outcome for everyone.

P: Do it with patience and persistence. It’s not about how fast or how much you get done. It’s about the quality of the results and the lessons learned. In all things be gentle with yourself and others.

istock_000005024047xsmall.jpgThings are heating up at work. First it was a nasty comment from someone. Then an outright accusation.

Now you feel like you’re in a corner defending yourself. How do you resolve the conflict and get back your confidence and self-esteem?

I coach my clients with imagery. I encourage them to remember that it takes several elements to make a fire. If they remove the source of ignition, usually their own ego, they can quickly turn down the heat.

Here’s a short and easy visualization you can adapt to your circumstances.

Sandie Andersen does more than serve coffee at Starbucks. She cares about the people on the other side of the counter. She takes the time to listen, even when the line is getting longer. That’s how Sandie learned that one of her long time customers, Annamarie Ausnes was losing the fight with polycystic kidney disease. A kidney transplant was inevitable but donors were not.

2238895598_a48436239e_m.jpgIt never was about money. It never was about sex or drugs. It was about following a dream. Like many famous women before them, their everyday spirituality offers several lessons.

Spirituality is your personal relationship to whatever you perceive as beyond the material world, time and space. “A central defining characteristic of spirituality is a perceived sense of connection to a metaphysical reality greater than oneself.” (Wikipedia)

Within these parameters, you can find several qualities of everyday spirituality in the lifestyle of Britney and Oprah.

istock_000003953171xsmall.jpg I know the power of music to heal. I’ve used it many times to bring myself into the calm after a storm in my life. I recommend it to my clients to ground themselves. In Peter Hwosch, I met both the healer and the musician.

Peter is widely recognized as a recording and performing musician and composer. But he also produces documentaries as part of the Compassionate Listening Projects he facilitates.

I met Peter on a wintry Wisconsin night on March 3, 2008. He was part of an alternative healing evening. I had the privilege to help the audience transition between the first presenter and Peter.

The good news is we all have our own pipeline! Here’s three easy ways to find it and use it.

869106866_5661cc9c13_m.jpgWhere do you begin when you feel like you’re under a mountain? Maybe it’s paper work, house cleaning, yard maintenance, clutter. Maybe it’s grief, loneliness, or hurt. How do you get out from under it all?

Begin with attitude. If you think it’s impossible, you close the door to opportunity and support. If you think it’s useless to even try, then no matter what you do, it won’t make a difference.

  • As you think, so will you experience.
  • Tell yourself this too will pass. After every night, the day returns. Storms blow over. Arguments dissipate. Wounds heal. Life returns.

959653393_034c7cfe9a_m.jpgIs there someone you know who shadows you at work or school? Someone who chooses clothes like yours and tries to get in with your friends? Someone who will even try to talk just like you?

I’ve had friends and clients tell me how frustrated and angry they are with people like this. And I ask, “Why?”

Why give away your power to someone you resent? No one can make you feel miserable unless you let them. Choose how you want to feel. Choose what kind of day you want to have. Take back your power and go for it.

Why stress out over how the wanna-be invades your circle of friends? If you can see it for what it is, so can everyone else. Give your friends credit for taking care of themselves. Grow your self-confidence and poise by staying neutral.

Why are you anxious about fixing this person’s life? That’s something only she or he can do. Apparently you’ve got something good going on in your life, or the wanna-be wouldn’t be trying so hard to imitate you.

9tomatoes-heart-blog.jpgShe calls it “Entertainment for the Third Eye.” Intuitive artist, Dana Weekley, knows how to deliver soulful art. In her process are three lessons in self-esteem for each of us.

1. Know that you are sourced in the Eternal.

  • Imagine the biggest picture possible. Look beyond this planet, beyond this universe. Go back into the Source-of-all-that-is, by whatever name you choose to give IT.
  • See yourself as a spark in a Divine Fire. Choose to believe in your awesome beginnings.
  • Grow your belief to trust, your trust to knowing. In the knowing the apprentice becomes the master.

2. Connect with your soul consciousness.

  • Use daily meditation, centering prayer, guided visualizations, yoga, tai chi, and various techniques like these. Quiet yourself on the inside and the outside.
  • Call in your soul presence by asking it to come into your physical life experience.
  • Invite soul to expand and inspire your thinking. Encourage soul to radiate compassion, forgiveness, and love in your relationships, work, and recreation.
